Hiking

There are numerous walk around the region to suit your level of fitness, from river walks,  bush walks through native forest and mountain terrain.

The Tongariro Crossing is described as one of the best one day hikes in New Zealand. The Crossing take you from alpine meadows to mountain summits with stunning volcanic features. You’ll be walking across lunar landscape between Mt Tongariro at 1967m and Mt Ngauruhoe (Mt Doom, for all the Lord of the Ring fans) at 2287m above sea level.

Rafting

The Tongariro River is a grade three. Imagine rafting through pristine pools, breathtaking gorges, rapids that get your heart racing while you observe native blue ducks and mystical ancient beech forests.

Kayaking

All rivers and lakes surrounding Turangi can be kayaked.

Jet boating

Sight Seeing

The Tongariro National Park is a World Heritage Park and is a year round tourist destination. You will appreciate all the region has to offer when you view the volcanic craters, deep lakes, snow feed rivers and bush-clad ridges from the air, or you can see it from your own car as you drive around the National Park.

Fishing

The Turangi Bridge Motel sets on the banks of the Tongariro River, only 30 metres from the World Famous Bridge Pool.

    For the experienced rider who like to be tested. It’s 40k 4-7 hours and takes excellent navigation skill and you’ll encounter every type of riding you can think of. It’s a BEAUTY.
